Dana Craig Bound Over On Perjury Charge In Murder Case

A Hutchinson woman who testified at the preliminary hearing for two men accused of killing Jennifer Heckel last summer and then charged by the state of perjury.

Dana Michelle Craig had a preliminary hearing Thursday where they found there was probable cause for her to be bound over on the charge. However, they couldn’t agree on whether it should be a level 7 felony or a level 9 felony charge. So, Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen gave both sides ten days to submit legal briefs over the issue, and he’ll then render a decision.

Craig was charged by the state for testifying that her ex-husband Billy Craig Jr., could not have been involved in the murder of Heckel, because he was with their daughter that night. But, as we have mentioned before, the state was able to establish that those statements couldn’t be true, because their daughter was working at the McDonald’s in South Hutchinson during that time.

So, when we learn of the decision, we’ll let you know.
