Deer-vehicle accident injures 1

SYLVIA, Kan. — An accident with a deer sent one person to the hospital Tuesday evening.

The Reno County sheriff’s department reports that 66-year-old Patricia McGaughey was going east on U.S. 50 when she hit a deer. The animal then deflected off of that vehicle and struck a westbound car driven by 20-year-old Audra Burns of Cimarron.

McGauhey was treated at the scene for a leg injury then transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for further evaluation. Burns was uninjured in the crash. The accident occurred around 6:25 p.m. just north of Sylvia.
