Defense for Adam Longoria file another change of venue motion

By Matt Unruh ~ Great Bend Post

GREAT BEND – Attorney’s representing Adam Longoria, the man charged with the capital murder of 14-year-old Alicia Debolt, have filed another motion requesting a change of venue.

In the motion, the defense states that media coverage has continued since the defendant’s previous filings. They attached several articles from the Great Bend Tribune in the motion that covered Judge Hannalore Kitts’ original denial of a change the venue. Also included with the articles were rulings regarding sealed motions being closed to the public and media, the admissibility of text messages used as evidence during trial, and opinion articles about Longoria’s ability to wear a suit during court hearings.

The defense stated in the motion that whether the reporting is factual or not is irrelevant, and the fact remains that this case is of major importance to the community and continues to receive significant coverage.

Neither the Kansas Attorney General’s Office or Judge Kitts have responded to the motion thus far.
