The murder trial for Charles Christopher Logsdon continues with testimony Friday afternoon from two people who were in the jail at some point with Logsdon after his arrest.

Donald Cook was with him and told of how Logsdon never admitted to him that he was involved in the killing of Jennifer Heckel. Cook said he was convinced that he wasn’t involved until the time of the preliminary hearing in February when they were watching television in the jail and they saw the victims picture on television. Cook says he commented that he thought she was a “nice looking woman.” He told the jury that Logsdon commented back “she’s not that good looking in life, was overweight and a sloppy house keeper.”

Next on the stand was Matthew Mounce who we have told you about before. He contacted investigators over statements made by the defendant while both were jailed and shared a pod. At some point, The defendant allegedly told Mounce, “when I shot that woman, her purse was right there.” Logsdon allegedly made the statement because he was upset about being charged with robbery, that according to Mounce. He also told the jury that he was later threatened by the defendant while in the county jail exercise yard because of any testimony he might give at trial. Logsdon allegedly told others in the yard and called him a “snitch.” .

Friday morning, KBI Special Agent Jeff Newsom was again on the stand. The state played an audio interview that Newsom did with the defendant, but the quality of the audio made it hard to understand as to what the defendant was saying.

Newsom tried to get the the defendant to admit his involvement in the murder, but Logsdon never clearly admitted he was there, but did implicate co-defendant Billy Craig.

Newsom told Logsdon that this wasn’t supposed to happen and Logsdon responded back that the truth will come out. Newsom kept hammering away at him that the evidence all pointed to him, but it didn’t appear to shake Logsdon.

He was shown a picture of a rifle that had supposedly been traded for a handgun, and he identified it. But, he also stated that he has never owned a revolver or any other handgun.

Logsdon also claimed during the interview that he and his girlfriend were together that whole week and that the rented a movie from Family Video at 30th & Severance.

Logsdon along with Craig are charged with the murder of Jennifer Heckel on June 14, 2011, but allegedly, the intended victim was Kayla Rodriquez.
