HUTCHINSON, Kan. – After Senior Assistant District Attorney Steve Maxwell finished the murder case on Wednesday, he is officially retired from that office.

District Attorney Keith Schroeder telling us that he already has a replacement, but that person won’t start in the office until early next year. He says John Settle who has served as the County Attorney for Pawnee County will take Maxwell’s place. He says Settle has family in Hutchinson, so he’s excited to be coming to the area.

Settle attended two universities for his studies including Southwest Oklahoma State University and then Oklahoma University. He served as past President of the Kansas County and District Attorney’s Association in 2003 and 2004.

He’s also known for being in the publishing business with five small town newspapers including the Lyons Daily News.
