HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Two people arrested last Friday in a domestic case made first court appearances Monday.

Megan Vance was arrested for aggravated battery when she allegedly struck Jeremy Yates in the face, tried to strangle him with her arm and pulled a knife and put it to his throat according to the arrest report.

Yates was arrested for suspicion of battery when he allegedly pulled her hair, bit her hand and struck her on her right arm. He also faces a possible abuse of a child charge for kicking a 14-year-old boy in the chest.

The domestic incident occurring in the early hours of Friday morning, around 3:30 a.m.

Local Attorney Greg Bell who was acting as a protem judge Monday granted a bond reduction for Vance who saw her bond decrease from $25,000 to $5,000. The bond for Yates was set at $2,750 at the time of the arrest and stayed the same.

Both will be back in court next week for the reading of any formal charges.
