HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 26-year-old man is jailed on a bond of $9,700 after a domestic violence call led to his fight with officers.

Police officers went to a residence on West 14th around 11 p.m. Thursday and discovered Riley Jenkins damaged some walls and also struck a victim in the home. He was thought to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police then attempted to take him into custody. He fought the two officers and, according to statements made in court, bit one officer on the calf.

He was arrested for battery-domestic violence, criminal damage to property, two counts of battery of a law enforcement officer and felony interference.

Once Jenkins was in custody, officers discovered he was in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia — which included a black pipe.

In court, he told the judge he doesn’t remember any of it, saying he woke up in jail.

He’ll be back in court next Friday for the formal reading of charges.
