MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. – Freshman Doug Rios-Ceballos shot a 2-under 70 in the afternoon round on
Monday to lead the Hutchinson Community College men’s golf team at the Missouri Southern Fall Invitational at Shangri-La Country Club.
The Blue Dragons are in sixth place in the 12-team field at 17-over 593. HCC shot 298 in the opening round and was tied for fifth after 18 holes. Hutch was three strokes better in the opening round with a 295. The final 18 holes will be Tuesday morning.
Central Oklahoma shot a 277 in the afternoon round to build a five-stroke lead over Oklahoma Christian. Central shot 571 through 36 holes. Hutchinson is 22 strokes off the pace.
Rios-Ceballos made a six-stroke improvement between the opening and second round on Monday. He was the only Blue Dragon to shoot under par with the 70 in the second round. At 2-under 146, Rios-Ceballos is tied for 12th place, six strokes off the individual lead.
Freshman Matt Person had rounds of 75 and 73 on Monday and is tied for 20th at 4-over 148. Freshman Jack Lanham carded a pair of 75s and is tied for 28th at 150.
Sophomore Wil Arnold was Hutchinson’s low scorer in the opening round with a 1-over 73. He had a 77 in the afternoon round and is also tied for 28th at 150.
Freshman Cole Gritton had rounds of 75 and 80 for a 155 after two rounds and is tied for 47th.
Sophomore Mac McNish is playing as an individual and is tied for 34th after back-to-back rounds of 76 and a 152 total after 36 holes.
