HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Two tournaments into the fall season, the Hutchinson Community College men’s golf team made a significant jump up the Bushnell/Golfweek NJCAA Division I national rankings.
The Blue Dragons jumped seven spots to No. 3 this week. Hutchinson is the highest District III team ranked in the first Bushnell regular-season rankings of the fall season.
The Blue Dragons edged Indian Hills for fifth place in the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational in mid-September. The Dragons were 11th last week at the Missouri Southern Fall Invitational.
Defending national champion Central Alabama jumped past Midland for the No. 1 spot in the rankings, getting 4 of 7 first-place votes. The Chaparrals are second with two first-place votes. After the Blue Dragons at No. 3, Indian Hills and New Mexico Junior College are tied for fourth.
Iowa Western is No. 8 this week with Dodge City receiving votes.
The Blue Dragons are currently No. 4 in the NJCAA Coaches Association Rankings.
Hutchinson next competes at the KCK Fall Tournament at Dub’s Dread Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday in Kansas City, KS.
