PARK CITY, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community College women’s basketball team is in wait-and-see mode. When it comes to national tournament hopes, the Dragons will have to wait and see if they get a bid. The Dragons wasted a terrific start and were downed by a Butler free throw with less than a second to play in a 61-60 loss.
The Dragons jumped out to a 26-13 lead only to see the score tied at 32 at the half. From there, the Dragons continued to struggle, although a couple of late threes got them out in front. An opportunity to put Butler away ended with an untimely turnover. A foul just before the end of regulation sank the Dragons.
The Dragons (30-3) will find out next Monday if they receive an at-large bid for the national tournament in Lubbock, Texas.
