HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community College football team will have seven home games in 2018, including two Thursday night showdowns at Gowans Stadium.

The Blue Dragons released the 2018 schedule on Wednesday. The Jayhawk Conference continues its scheduling alliance with the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference for the fifth-straight season. Hutchinson will have three Jayhawk Conference games at home in the upcoming season.

The Dragons will play four of their first five games at Gowans Stadium with the Thursday night season opener against the Ellsworth Panthers on August 22. This will be the fourth Thursday night season opener for the Blue Dragons. Hutch is 3-0 in Thursday night home openers with wins over Kilgore in 2011 (60-29), The Bethany College JV in 2014 (45-7) and the Sterling College JV in 2015 (70-0).

After a Week 2 trip to Independence on September 1, the Blue Dragons play three-straight home games. Iowa Western comes to Gowans Stadium on September 8, followed by Fort Scott on September 15 and then a Thursday night battle on September 20 against RPA Academy.

The Blue Dragons renew their rivalry with Butler on September 29 in El Dorado before returning home to play Highland on October 6.

Hutchinson will then travel to Coffeyville (October 13) and Dodge City (October 20) and have its one bye week of the season on October 27 before finishing out the season at Gowans Stadium against Garden City on November 3 and Iowa Central on November 10.

All Thursday kickoffs will be at 7 p.m. and all Saturday home kickoffs will be at noon.
