TOPEKA – One day after celebrating her birthday, Janice Wright was at Kansas Lottery headquarters in Topeka celebrating another happy occasion – a $10,000 win! Yesterday, the Wichita resident discovered she had won a $10,000 cash prize in the first Holiday Millionaire Raffle Early Bird drawing on Oct. 9.

“I stopped by a QuikTrip and asked for a printout of the winning numbers from Sunday’s Early Bird drawing,” said Wright. “I then went to Office Max to pick up a few things, but before I went in the store, I checked my raffle ticket. When I realized I had matched one of the numbers, I sat there saying, ‘Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!’”

The winning raffle numbers in Sunday’s drawing were 012269 and 031432. Wright’s winning raffle number was 012269, which she purchased at QuikTrip 363, located at 2801 N. Rock Rd. in Wichita on October 5.

“After checking out at Office Max, I treated myself to breakfast and called my boss to ask for the afternoon off so I could claim my prize,” said Wright. “I texted my son and told him there was a change in plans. I wasn’t going to work and I was headed out of town. He kept asking what was going on, but I told him it would have to wait because it was a surprise. He’ll be shocked when I tell him I just won $10,000.”

Although Wright just won $10,000 in the first Holiday Millionaire Raffle Early Bird drawing, she’s hoping her luck will continue in the remaining Early Bird drawings on October 16, 23, 30, and November 6.

“I think I’ll buy a couple more tickets to increase my chances of winning,” said Wright. “You never know. I just might win again.”
