Police lights in the distance

Only minor injuries for one man involved in a two vehicle accident in the county early Saturday morning.

At around 2:13 a-m, Reno County Sheriffs Deputies were dispatched to K61 & Olcott Rd., for an injury accident. When they arrived, they discovered a minivan and a pickup had hit each other head on.

The 2005 Pontiac Montana was driven by 32-year-old Rueben Segovia of Pratt. He was westbound on K-61 when he crossed the center-line striking a 1989 Chevy 1500 pickup driven 52-year-old Teresa Kinast of Turon.

Kinast was not injured, but Segovia was transported by Reno County E-M-S to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with neck pain..

21-year-old Danielle McElroy of Pratt was in the minivan and was not injured. 23-year-old Alex Stapleton of St. John was in the pickup and also not injured. All 4 involved were wearing their seatbelts.

Segovia was issued 2 citations for driving while suspended and driving left of center.

Sheriff officials say it appears Segovia fell asleep at the wheel causing him to cross the center-line.
