TOPEKA – Economic Lifelines, the state’s leading transportation coalition, today announced they will host four town hall meetings across the state during the legislative break. KDOT will be in attendance to provide important information on T-WORKS funding and Economic Lifelines will discuss legislative issues.

“The goal is to update local officials, community leaders and interested citizens on the key transportation issues being discussed at the state and federal level,” said Julie Lorenz, Chief Executive of Economic Lifelines. “Communities all across the state have a strong interest in the transportation projects made possible by the 2010 comprehensive transportation initiative – T-WORKS.

The Transportation Town Hall schedule includes one in Hutchinson, hosted by the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce. It will be held at 2 p-m on April 9, at the Hutchinson City Council Chambers at 125 East B. This meeting will be considered the southwest region meeting.

The south-central Kansas meeting will be earlier that day, around 9 a-m, in Wichita at the conclusion of the REAP Board meeting at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex, 5015 E 29th Street North, 29th & Oliver, Room 132.

Other meetings will on April 23, in Pittsburg, and then at 1:30 p-m, that same day on Overland Park.

Lorenz said members of Economic Lifelines will continue working with members of the Kansas Legislature as the state’s budget is finalized to uphold the Governor’s recommendations for T-WORKS.
