An 83-year-old Salina woman has fallen victim to a phone scam.
Lt. Scott Siemsen says the woman received a call just after 8:00am Friday from someone claiming to be from the Mexico City Police Department, who told the woman her grandson had been involved in an accident, and he needed to have money wired to have him bonded out.
The woman sent a MoneyGram that amounted to $2,300. The woman later learned her grandson was fine and at college.
The call history of the woman’s phone shows the call originated from Montreal Quebec Canada.
