ELLINWOOD – A 27-year-old Ellinwood man was injured after falling from a boom truck on Wednesday.

Solida Tree Service was trimming trees in the area of 673 East Barton County Road, when the boom of one of the trucks failed. Jason Christiansen was in the boom lift at the time of the failure, and he fell approximately 30-to-40 feet when the boom broke away from the truck.

Christiansen suffered a cut above the left eye and was flown to a Wichita hospital by an Eagle Med helicopter where his status is unknown.

It appeared that approximately half the bolts holding the boom to the truck had failed due to rust.

The truck was last inspected in December of 2011.
