HUTCHINSON, Kan. — If you saw a lot of fire trucks in the area of 11th & Halstead Thursday, it wasn’t because of a fire or any emergency. Fire Department officials say they were implementing a planned exercise at Airgas at 1200 North Grand.

Airgas representatives had been planning the exercise with Fire Department Training Division for a couple of months. The employees at the facility were not aware of the drill and were tested along with Fire Department resources.

A recap of the events was held with both partners on what could be learned from the event.

A number of emergency vehicles were in the area in conjunction with Airgas officials, but they emphasize, it was an exercise only and no real emergency occurred.
