HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The eighth Empty Bowls event will combine art and food to raise money to fight hunger and raise awareness about food security. The event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Hutchinson High School Cafeteria.

In addition to taking home a piece of student-crafted art, guests will enjoy a bowl of chili or red beans and rice along with a dessert.

For a donation of $5 or more, participants will be able to choose from a wide variety of artwork crafted by students from the district. Pieces include potter’s wheel thrown bowls, and welding from HHS will create pieces.

A silent auction will feature some bowls made by local artists as well.

Proceeds raised will go for holiday dinners for students on the Hutch High Angel Tree and the Reno County Food Bank. Each year, the fundraiser brings in about $2,500 for the charities.
