HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 30-year-old man is jailed on a $35,000 bond after a disturbance just after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Miles Henning is jailed for potential charges of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, an aggravated weapons violation by a convicted felon, felony interference, criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct.

He reportedly went into the Dillons on East 4th and was yelling and cursing at staff and customers. When police arrived, he ran and was located in the 400 block of North Cleveland. He refused to cooperate with officers’ commands. As they tried to place him in custody, he allegedly pulled out a pocket knife. One officer stated that he felt threatened by Henning.

In court, Henning argued that none of this happened. He asked for a bond reduction, but — during discussion with the state about the bond — he got mad and hung up the phone at the Reno County Correctional Facility.

Henning has prior convictions for three counts of felony theft. He will be back in court next week.
