The Reno County Commission Tuesday approved a Edward Byrne Grant for the Reno County Sheriff’s Office totaling just over 82-hundred dollars.

This is actually part of a larger grant, with most going to the Hutchinson Police Department.

The annual federal grant totals $26,461 and is divided on felony arrest and housing criteria between the City of Hutchinson and Reno County.

Sheriff Randy Henderson says his department will use the money they receive to purchase 8-wireless mikes for his deputies. He says they will purchase 8-more using money from his budget. That would total 16, although the sheriff admits he really need about 20.
