HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Fire Investigators have ruled the cause of an overnight fire as arson. They say there were at least two points of origin, but no direct source identified. Hutchinson Fireman along with Hutchinson Police are now investigating the incident.

The fire was occurring at 607 Carey St. When fireman arrived, they found heavy flames showing from the residence which is underground with a garage above ground. The garage was completely involved with fire and smoke.Fireman had the fire under control in 30-minutes.

The residence was vacant at the time of the fire, so there were no injuries.

Fire officials say the structure is a complete loss, and the outbuilding and vehicle suffered moderate damage.

The fire was reported around 4:45 a-m.

Hutchinson Fire crews on the scene of a structure fire in the Careyville area.

Units responded around 4:45 am to 607 North Carey and found a garage ablaze. The fire has been put out, and no injuries are reported at this time. The fire destroyed the garage and the attached home and a shed suffered heavy damage. There was a report of an explosion at the scene but that has not been confirmed at this time.

Cause of the fire is still under investigation.
