
SOLOMON -Firefighters responded to the Solomon rest area on Interstate 70 just after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday for a semi on fire.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported the driver of the semi had stopped at the eastbound rest area to use the restroom. When he returned the semi was engulfed in flames.
Officials say the fire started in the engine compartment and spread to the rest of the truck.
The rest area, which is located about 13 miles east of Salina, was briefly closed.
There were no injuries according to the KHP.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
