Numerous Hutchinson and rural fire crews responded to a wheat stubble fire east of Hutchinson Wednesday afternoon. Crews were called to the scene around 2:40pm at US-50 and Mayfield Road. The fire started near a residence, and quickly burned to the south and west through the field. Crews were able to bring the fire under control in about 30 minutes. The fire started close to a few buildings, but none were damaged, and there were no injuries.
