Hutchinson Fireman responded to the 1100 East 30th, the Midwest Superstore car dealership, for a structure fire. When they arrived, they found smoke coming from the rear of building. Firefighters found the fire in the northwest corner of the body shop.

The fire was controlled in about 30-minutes. Damage is estimated at 50-thousand dollars due to repairs that will need to be made to electrical systems. There was also damage to the insulation of the metal structure and miscellaneous service manuals and other tools that were in the immediate area. There were several cars in the vicinity with none sustaining significant damage.

The cause of the fire appears to be a malfunction of a heater in the area. No one was at the business at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

The fire was called in around 4 a-m, by the delivery driver that was delivering vehicles. He reported smoke was coming from the building. When firefighters arrived they forced entry and were met with moderate smoke in the body shop area. Firefighters were able to maneuver around the vehicles and locate the small fire and extinguish it.

The fire had consumed all burnable material in the area and was smoldering as firefighters arrived. Firefighters spent a couple of hours ventilating smoke from the entire building.
