HUTCHINSON, Kan. — If all goes well, the new fire station on Avenue E should be ready for use early
next month.
According to Hutchinson Fire Chief Kim Forbes, the station should be completed by the end of August, and after a walkthrough, should be ready to move into by Sept. 10.
And as crews prepare to move into that station, work is set to begin on a second new station to replace the one at 11th and Hendricks. Forbes says they hope to put the project out for bid in the next week and have that project started by the end of September. Once underway, the station should be completed in about seven months.
Crews from that station will move to the station at 20th and North Main while the work is ongoing.
