WICHITA, Kan. – The 2019 NBC World Series first-week pools have been released.
The World Series is split into two weeks, with the second week serving as championship week. The top two teams from each first-week pool advance to a single-elimination bracket that runs August 1st through the 10th. The top two teams from that bracket advance to championship week.
The Monarchs are in pool A and will play the winner of the game between 316 Elite (Wichita, Ks) and Palm Springs Chill (California) in their first game which is yet to be announced, but will be played on Sunday, July 28th. Then they will play the loser of the Elite and Palm Springs Chill. The First Week of the Tournament will consist of 12 teams. 7 of the 12 teams are from Kansas. Top two teams will advance to Championship Week. First Week will consist of 4 pools with 3 teams in each pool. Two game guarantee. Top two teams from each pool advance to single elimination bracket play Tuesday, July 30. (8 teams, 4 games). Those four winners advance to play Wednesday, July 31 with the winners advancing to Championship Week.
Hutchinson qualified for the NBC with a thrilling come from behind 6-5 extra innings walk-off win over the Wichita Sluggers last Tuesday in Wichita. Two other SCL Kansas teams were named at-large entries into this year’s NBC tournament with the Great Bend Bat Cats and Derby Twins being granted bids.
The other SLC teams are the Cheney Diamond Dawngs and Haysville Aviators. Both will be seeded in the championship week game schedule.
