WICHITA – Junior Running Back Brett Giesen (Laguna Niguel, CA) and Freshman Kicker Terry Stecker (Plano, TX) of Kansas Wesleyan are KCAC Offensive and Special Teams players of the week following for leading the Coyotes to their first win of the season, a victory over Sterling College. Ottawa University’s Nate Bruto earns Defensive Player of the Week honors with a tremendous effort against the University of Saint Mary.

NAIA & KCAC Special Teams Player of the Week Terry Stecker hit a game winning 46-yard field goal as time expired to give Kansas Wesleyan University a 24-21 victory over Sterling College. Stecker was also perfect on PATs (3-for-3) and totaled 192 yards on 4 kickoffs. The Freshman’s leg puts KWU in the win column for the first time this season and moves KWU to 1 and 1 in conference play.

Offensive Player of the Week, Kansas Wesleyan Running Back Brett Giesen carried 14 times for 153 yards and a touchdown in a winning effort over conference opponent Sterling College. Giesen scored the Coyotes first points on a 74-yard run early in the second quarter, igniting KWU’s come from behind victory.

Junior Nate Bruto tallied nine tackles, including one for a loss, in Ottawa’s win over fellow KCAC member University of Saint Mary. The 6 foot, 205 lb Defensive Back added two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one blocked field goal on his way to Defensive Player of the Week. The 24th ranked Braves capitalized with touchdowns on Bruto’s forced fumble and first interception, both of which occurred in the first quarter.

All KCAC Players of the Week will also be nominated for NAIA National Player of the Week honors, which will be announced later this week.
