HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A former president and CEO of Heartland Credit Union is running for public office.
Garth Strand has filed the necessary paperwork with the Secretary of State office to run for the House seat in the 104th district.
Strand will run as a Democrat in the 2020 election. Strand was part of the credit union for 36 years and retired from Heartland Credit Union in 2017. Strand said in a note to potential supporters that it is time for solutions, not politics.
Strand would go up against Republican Paul Waggoner if he decides to run again. Waggoner’s name does not appear on the Secretary of State listing as of Monday.
