HUTCHINSON, Kan. — OnStar Road Assistance Service celebrated its 20th anniversary by giving $20,000 each to 20 public safety personnel who experienced serious physical injury or hardship that impacted their ability to perform their jobs.

One of the selected first responders was Lindsay Prater, who started as a paramedic then became a dispatcher here in Hutchinson in May of 2012. In this role, Prater was able to do one of the things she loves the most – help people.

During her tenure at the Hutchinson Dispatch Center, she assisted in a variety of situations, including helping a father deliver a baby at home and walking a girl through the steps of CPR to help her father.

In December 2014, the mother of two had a brain tumor removed and continues to recover.
