One of three men charged in a case from last year involving the alleged kidnapping and beating of a Nickerson man and who was recently ordered to have a GPS device attached to him was expected in court again Thursday, but just like Monday, he was a no show.

Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen had issued a bench warrant Monday for the arrest of 29-year-old Zachary Lawson with a bond of 28-thousand, and he has now issued another bench warrant of 500-hundred thousand dollars, meaning the total bonds are at 528-thousand dollars.

Lawson is charged with aggravated kidnapping, conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated burglary, aggravated intimidation of a witness, criminal threat, possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, anabolic steroids and criminal use of weapon.

He along with 26-year-old Jeremia Palmer, and 28-year-old Jedrik Smith are charged for the alleged kidnapping and beating of 28-year-old Larry McVey.

The hearing Thursday was for both Lawson and Palmer, but Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton asked for a continuance in the Palmer case, since Lawson once again didn’t show in court, saying he didn’t want the witnesses to have to testify multiple times. That was granted.

The three cases Monday scheduled for a preliminary hearing with Lawson included possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana, and defacing a vehicle serial number. That case from February 21st, of this year. The second case was from August 25, 2011, where he’s charged with possession of stolen property, for allegedly having a Mustang Skid Steer, taken from Nisley Construction. The third case concerned the criminal threat allegedly made against Palmer. He allegedly threatened him with physical violence back on October 29, 2011. Other cases pending included domestic battery and felony flee and elude.

So when the hearings in the kidnapping case will be held is up in the air at this point.
