WICHITA – A former secretary/treasurer of the Letter Carriers Branch 1412 in Garden City pleaded guilty Monday to embezzling more than $20,000 from the union.

67-year-old Lanny F. Pauley of Garden City pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement by a labor organization officer.

In his plea he admitted that from 2002 to 2007 he embezzled 20-thousand, 325-dollars from the union by writing checks to himself or misusing the union credit card.

He faces a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison and a fine up to 250-thousand dollars.

Sentencing is set for Nov. 28.
