The fourth annual Sixth Grade Career Exploration Day is set for 8:45 a-m, to 2:30 p-m, Wednesday, May 9, in the Hutchinson Career and Technical Education Academy, 800 15th Circle.

Businesses and organizations that offer training programs will help every sixth grader experience careers through interactive, informational exhibits. Numerous Kansas Career Clusters will be represented. During the day, groups of students will rotate through 16, 15-minute career exploration stops.

In all, more than 360 sixth graders from every USD 308 sixth grade class will participate. Also participating are 30 HCTEA Ambassadors, Business Professionals of America and DECA members, who will serve as tour guides.

Career stops include law enforcement, emergency medical services, computer & industrial technology, culinary arts, broadcasting, health science, welding, computer numeric controlled (CNC) plasma cutter, machine technology, entrepreneurship, true colors, collision repair, · commercial construction, journalism and automotive technology.

Participating sixth grade teachers and their students also have been provided with pre-day classroom, career enhancing activities.
