HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Any future plans for the Hutchinson Sculpture Walk program may come to light during the public art design council meeting Thursday afternoon.

Discussion about the program has been ongoing for several months now and the design council will have to make some decision on where the program will go from here.

This comes after a proposal from the city to the Hutchinson Art Center to take over the program was turned down. Officials at the art center said they simply had too many other things they needed to support and could not take on another project. The arts program was spearheaded by Assistant City Manager Meryl Dye starting in 2012 to bring artwork to the downtown area.

Dye will be stepping down from her duties at the end of the week, which may further hurt efforts to keep the program going.

Thursday’s meeting begins at 3:30 p.m. at City Hall.
