Hutchinson fire crews and the Haz-Mat team were dispatched to a report of a gas leak Thursday morning on the southeast side of the city.
According to Hutchinson Fire Chief Kim Forbes, the leak was reported just after 6 a-m at Black Hills Energy at 3414 East Avenue G. Apparently, a valve leading into the facility fractured causing the leak.
Crews were forced to block off Avenue G, from Airport Road several blocks west of the site which is located near the Strataca, The Kansas Underground Museum. The road was re-opened about 45-minutes later.
There were no injuries and the cause of rupture is unknown.
