HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Bucking the usual trend this time of year, gas prices in Kansas and across the nation continue to rise.
Kansas saw only a modest 1-cent increase in the past week to $2.75, but is up 8 cents in the past month and up 19 percent from a year ago, according to Triple A Kansas.
Here in Hutchinson, gas prices range from $2.51 per gallon to $2.59 at others. In either case, that’s well below the state average. In South Hutchinson, prices are closer to the state average with most stations having a price of $2.69 per gallon.
The Kansas gas price extremes include Longton in Elk County at $3.20 per gallon to $2.51 in Hutchinson, which is the lowest.
