Glennys E. Winkle, 87, of Hutchinson, formerly of Pickrell, NE, died June 5, 2019, at Reflection Living, Hutchinson. She was born May 18, 1932, in Clatonia, NE, to Fred and Mary (Brolhorst) Schroeder. Glennys attended Clatonia Public School, Clatonia, NE, and Doane College, Crete, NE. She taught elementary school for the Beatrice Public School system and was a hotel manager for many years after that. Glennys loved animals, flowers, and plants. She enjoyed being a member of a card club and on the election board. Glennys was a member of Pickrell United Methodist Church, Pickrell, NE, where she was a Vacation Bible School teacher and coordinator. Glennys moved to Hutchinson eight years ago to be closer to her son.
On June 29, 1954, she married Rolland Winkle at St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice, NE.
Glennys is survived by: son, Terry Lee Winkle of Hutchinson; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nephews and nieces; and many great-nephews and great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Rolland; sisters, Verlinda Rehm, Madeline Rehm, Lois Tegtmeier; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Pickrell United Methodist Church, 404 W. Pickrell Road, Pickrell, NE, with Pastor Lila Bottolfsen officiating. Inurnment will follow in Pleasantview Cemetery, Pickrell, NE. Friends may sign the book from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary.
Because of Glennys’ love for animals, memorials may be given to the Glennys Winkle Memorial Fund (to be donated to various animal shelters), in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
