HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The study from GreenPlay regarding the city’s parks and rec facilities reflects the cost of maintaining such facilities.

The study is being conducted to determine what direction Hutch Rec and the parks department could take in developing a master plan. The city spends about $3,640,000 on parks. In turn, the city earns about $63,000 from building rentals and fees. It also generates about $700,000 a year from the golf course.

Parks and Facilities Director Justin Combs says it comes down to few opportunities to generate revenue:

 

 

The city did raise fees for building use during the last budget session.
