HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Jim Barnett, one the candidates for Kansas governor, was in Hutchinson Wednesday. From Reading, Kansas, Barnett stopped by the Eagle Media Center and commented on the recent school funding bill that was passed in the legislature. The bill calls for a $534 million increase in school funding:

He wasn’t shy when talking about the things he sees as important. At the same time, Barnett was critical of the way things were handled by Sam Brownback and the way current governor, Jeff Colyer,

Barnett wants to focus on jobs. He says training should be readily available for workers. 

He visited Hutchinson Community College and was impressed with the level of vocational training:

Barnett supports Medicaid and wants to keep Kansas hospitals open:

Barnett, a doctor and former state senator, announced his candidacy last June and is seeking the Republican nomination.
