BUHLER, Kan. — The Buhler USD 313 School Board got a report on the recent award presented to
teacher Heidi Harris during last night’s agenda session.
The National Science Foundation presented Harris with the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Harris currently teaches 5th grade at Union Valley Elementary School.
During last night’s meeting, Senator Ed Berger presented Harris with a certificate of recognition by the Kansas State Senate for her accomplishment.
The PAEMST program, administered by the National Science Foundation (NSF) on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, recognizes outstanding teachers for their contributions to the teaching and learning of mathematics and science.
Harris made a trip to Washington, D.C., and received a citation signed by President Trump and a $10,000 award from NSF.
