HCC Student And Basketball Player Arrested For Sexual Exploitation Of A Child

A Hutchinson Community College basketball player arrested Wednesday on a charge of sexual exploitation of a child will be in court of October 17. Jasmine L. Patterson is accused of downloading child pornography in her dorm room last year

She was arrested in a long form complaint meaning that police sent the information to District Attorney Keith Schroeder and he then filed the formal complaint and an arrest warrant was issued.

The charge of sexual exploitation of a child alleges the crime occurred on April 19 of last year.

Once again the Kansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force reported spotting child pornography being downloaded from a file-sharing network which led to the investigation by Hutchinson Police.

Schroeder says police executed a search warrant and she allegedly possessed sexually explicit photos of children under the age of 18. He told Eagle Radio that he filed the complaint back in April and the warrant was served for her arrest.

This is the second case in recent months where the Wichita unit discovered file sharing of child porn. Wayne Pendarvis, a former counselor with the Hutchinson Correctional Facility is awaiting trial for basically doing the same crime. His case also came through an investigation that began with that same group in Wichita.

According to the NJCAA website, she is from Frisco, Texas.

She’s free on bond of 7-thousand dollar bond according to Sheriff Randy Henderson and should make a first appearance on the charge next week.
