While a status hearing over the contempt of court charge against a Hutchinson murder suspect was continued Wednesday, there may be a hearing yet this week for Billy Craig Jr.

Craig was found in contempt of court for refusing to testify in the Charles Logsdon murder trial. Logsdon is the co-defendant with Craig in the case involving the death of Jennifer Heckel.

The complaint over the contempt of court allegation was scheduled for a hearing Wednesday, but that was continued. The complaint states that about November 6th or 7th, Craig failed to comply with the order of Judge Rose that he testify at the Logsdon trial. That allegation is still pending.

Then there was the question of who his lawyer should be in the computer crime case against him. Craig was apparently assigned Greg Meredith as his counsel in that matter. But, Craig complains that Meredith served as the treasure for the re-election campaign of District Attorney Keith Schroeder. So, he may be at some point be granted a new attorney. A hearing on the issue is scheduled for Friday morning.

Craig’s alleged to have been involved in a conspiracy to commit crimes associated with a fake driver’s licenses. The state is alleges that he along with Kylie Hartman and Kasey Pisoni were involved and had planned to make checks using the false driver’s licenses, with others names, but their pictures. The checks would be forged all over the state for cash and merchandise. Charges include conspiracy to commit a computer crime, and conspiracy to commit identity fraud.

The charges against Hartman were dropped, but Pisoni was given 12-months community corrections.

The murder case against Craig is also still pending.
