The preliminary hearing for a Reno County Sheriff Deputy arrested and charged with two counts unlawful sexual relations with an inmate, two counts of aggravated intimidation of a victim and two counts of bribery was continued Wednesday at the request of the defense.

The charges against 30-year-old Jonathan Diaz were filed by the state after a nearly 2-week internal investigation ordered by Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson.

The allegations were made against Diaz by female inmates in the jail. That led to a request to allow local KBI Agent Jeff Newsum to follow up and continue the investigation.

Bond in the case was set at 100-thousand dollars and the preliminary hearing will be scheduled again at a later date.
