HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 31-year-old Hutchinson man looking at serving 20 years in prison saw his case pushed to Jan. 6 because the state may file a new charge of aggravated escape from custody.

It was back on Dec. 2 when Matthew Mounce apparently didn’t like the fact that Judge Trish Rose ordered him to jail because of failure to report to his corrections officer twice after she told him to do so and he ran from the courtroom.

He got on the elevator, but Reno County Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton yelled down the stairway and Reno County Sheriff Sgt. Troy Selby and two security guards managed to get Mounce into custody.

Mounce is facing an evidentiary hearing over the motion to revoke his community corrections from crimes in 2011, including unlawful manufacture of meth, sale of drugs, possession of drugs, having a precursor for the manufacture of meth and harassment by phone.

He hadn’t reported to his corrections officer since November of 2015.

He’s being held without bond.
