HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Fire Department, responding to the 900 Block of Keast St for a
ruptured gas line struck by utility crews around 11:20 Thursday morning.
Crews arrived to find a 2” gas line had been struck by utility crews utilizing and auger.
Units set up a safety perimeter and evacuated citizens located on 9th Ave to a nearby local hotel. Roads were initially closed from 8th Ave to 11th Ave between Porter St and Keast St. with residents being let back into their homes after fire crews evaluated the gas monitor readings in the area downwind from the incident.
Fire Crews remained on the scene for about four and a half hours until the leak was contained.
No injuries were reported.
