Homegrown tech day for USD 308 teachers

Contrary to popular belief, not all expert advice has to come from someone who has traveled 50 or more miles to get to a conference.

Saturday, 50 certified staff members will receive expert professional development from their colleagues at the Jammin’ with Technology II conference from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Hutchinson Middle School-8, 200 West 14th. This is the second year the conference has been offered to certified staff.

All the presenters during the day are USD 308 staff members who are working with technologies ranging from cutting edge to more routine topics.

Presenters include Amy Reilly, HMS-8 English teacher; Katie Taylor, HMS-8 communications teacher; Alma Henry, Hutchinson Middle School-7 reading teacher; Seth Swihart, McCandless Elementary School sixth grade teacher; Abby Thompson, HMS-7 language arts teacher; Jen Magnall, McCandless sixth grade teacher; Kristi Link, Wiley Elementary School first grade teacher; Angie Engel, HMS-8 library media specialist; Jill Robb, McCandless first grade teacher; Dori Schneider, Morgan Elementary School instructional coach; Marcia Hudson, McCandless library media specialist; Nate Kluesner, Hutchinson Magnet School at Allen sixth grade teacher; and Theresa Brown, district instructional specialist.

While registration for the conference is limited to 50 and is closed, the district will have a similar full day of technology professional development for all certified staff in September during the annual “fair day” professional development event.
