HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Horizons Mental Health Center received a $119,000 grant from the State of Kansas to assist in funding the new Learn and Play Therapeutic Center that will be located in the south end of the former Dillon Living Center. Horizons can apply to renew the grant during each of the next three years.

The grant was one of 13 handed out last week. Horizons has been working with Hutchinson USD 308 to come up with special programs for younger at-risk students.
The Family First Prevention Services Act provides new federal funding for prevention activities. The funding is available for children at imminent risk of placement in foster care as well as parents or kinship caregivers.
The Department for Children and Families received 55 proposals for Family First prevention grant services.
