HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Police Chief Jeffrey Hooper is wasting no time in updating the new command structure within the department. Coupled with the recent departures from the agency, the new structure will allow several highly-qualified employees to be promoted.

The department will hold a promotion ceremony tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. at City Hall in the commission chambers. 

Lt. Marty Robertson, Lt. Thad Pickard and Lt. Joshua Radloff will be promoted to captain.

Sgt. Dustin Loepp will be promoted to lieutenant. Detective Curtis Black and Officers Lance Hirt and Dayton Gates will be promoted to sergeant.

The new command structure will have four divisions reporting directly to Chief Hooper.

For administration, Capt. Josh Radloff will be in charge. Capt. Marty Robertson will be in charge of operations. Capt. Thad Pickard will head up professional standards.

“It is our hope that with this new command structure, HPD will be better equipped to provide quality service to our community all while remaining transparent and accountable,” Chief Hooper said.
