HUDSON, Kan. (AP) – The tiny Stafford County town of Hudson is not happy about plans by the U.S. Postal Service to close down the local post office.

The community of about 125 residents is home to the county’s largest private business and a café that’s full every Sunday.

Residents say losing the post office is like the time when the local elementary school had to close. Mayor Pete Witt says he has written to the Postal Service asking that it reconsider its proposal to close the post office. But the
Postal Service is looking at closing 2,000 post offices across the country, including 11 in Kansas, because it’s losing millions of dollars a day.
