A Reno County Jury found a 31-year-old Hutchinson man accused of multiple counts of burglary guilty on most of the counts, but not guilty on two counts of aggravated burglary and one count of burglary.

Rusty Bryant is guilty of 4-counts of aggravated burglary, and 7-counts of auto burglary associated with crimes in the Prairie Dunes- Linksland Drive area in suburban Hutchinson between July 5, and 11 of last year.

The state argued that it was him who committed the crimes and that much of the items taken were found in his home, but the defense argues that doesn’t prove that he was the thief. Not all of the items were found in his home and what was there says Defense Attorney Bonnie Corrado, he was using like he was the owner, including a 40-inch television.

The sentencing in the case is scheduled for March 22.

Bryant still has another case pending where he is charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of theft for alleged crimes in the city of Hutchinson, one of which occurred outside Grace Bible Church at 1221 East 33rd. He allegedly stole tools from Wiens and Company Construction and their employees. They had a semi trailer at that location and he allegedly broke a lock and stole various tools from the truck.

The other case involves him breaking into a vehicle at a nearby car lot and stealing a GPS Device and CD’s from that vehicle in which a Hutchinson woman had apparently left there overnight.

Both crimes occurring on July 13 and no date has been set for that trial.
