A 35-year-old Hutchinson man arrested twice for alleged drug sales and then a third arrest for indirect contempt was in court Friday for a pre-trial hearing on the cases.

The attorney for Jason Hadley, Charlie O’Hara told Judge Tim Chambers that they have had some plea negotiations with the state and requested another status hearing for January 25. Judge Chambers agreed to the request, but also set a motion deadline in the case for that same date.

O’Hara also indicated that he may file a motion to lower his clients bond, which is currently at over 1-million dollars.

Hadley earlier entered “not guilty” pleas on two counts for the sale of methamphetamine, and one count for simple possession of meth, allegedly less then a gram each time. He’s also charged with three counts of unlawful use of a communications facility, namely a telephone to arrange a drug transaction and no tax stamp for the drugs.

These alleged transactions occurring on three occasions, all three times. law enforcement used a confidential informant to allegedly meet Hadley for the drug buys. The first was on July 14, the second on July 29, and the third time on July 30.

A couple of the alleged drug sales were allegedly done near the business that Hadley is associated with, that being Caribbean Tan.

After the third buy, his vehicle was stopped in the 300 block of East Bigger and he was arrested and allegedly drugs found.

The other case goes back on June 19, when Hadley was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell within a 1,000 feet of Holly Cross School and possession of steroids. The state dropped a charge of possession of a control substance when it was learned it wasn’t a controlled substance after all. The drugs were apparently found as he rode in his girlfriends car, and the defense attempted to argue that the drugs could have been hers.

A charge of intimidation of witness is a misdemeanor offense and the defense has requested a jury trial for that charge as well.
